Terms of Service

Last updated July 2, 2026

Welcome to ForeverLineage. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. Please read them — we’ve kept them short and plain.

The service

ForeverLineage is a private family-tree application, offered as a personal project by an individual (not a company), that lets you build and share your family history with people you invite. It’s offered as-is and may change over time as we add, improve, or retire features.

Your account

  • Keep your password secure and don’t share your login.
  • You’re responsible for activity that happens under your account.
  • Provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.
  • Accounts are intended for adults.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload unlawful, harmful, or infringing content.
  • Violate other people’s privacy or rights.
  • Attempt to break, overload, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the service or other accounts.
  • Use the service to harass or harm others.

Your content

You keep ownership of the content you add — the names, dates, places, notes, and photos in your family tree. You grant us the limited permission needed to store, process, and display that content so we can provide the service to you and the members you invite. You’re responsible for the content you add and for having a reasonable basis to include information about other people.

Families and members

Family owners manage their family’s membership and can invite or remove members and set each member’s role (viewer or editor). Treat information about relatives — especially living ones — with respect, and honor reasonable requests to correct or remove it.

Availability

We aim to keep ForeverLineage available and your data safe, but the service is provided without any guarantee of uptime. It may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control. Keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ForeverLineage and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the service.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using ForeverLineage and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or put the service or other users at risk.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Nothing here removes any mandatory legal protections you’re entitled to under the laws of the place where you live.
